Swamp Sistas La La Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 Non-profit organization, founded and led by singer-songwriter Beth McKee, with the bifold mission of community service and supporting artists with mentorship, collaboration, promotion, and paid performance opportunities.
1. Zebra La La Show Camp Eight weekly workshops at Zebra Youth’s Drop-In Center, where Swamp Sistas will mentor and collaborate with members to write, produce, and perform as a group. We aim to empower LGBTQ+ youth by helping them find and nourish their creative voice as a coping tool during stressful times. The series also includes mini-sessions led by industry professionals in comedy, poetry, songwriting, photography, and more. Show Camp will culminate in a performance at the Swamp Sistas Zebra La La.
2. Swamp Sistas Zebra La La In addition to the show we are developing at our Zebra workshops, the La La will feature established local artists and a visual art show, along with all the usual La La fun. It will happen from 2-5 PM on Sunday, November 12, at The Renaissance Theatre, and we will be raising funds for an organization or cause per La La tradition. This year we are excited to support Zebra Youth, which provides services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and all youth (LGBTQ+) ages 13 to 24.
